Quick Update

Just thought I'd give a brief update of what has been going on in the Bayardo world. We've been dealing with some sleeping issues with Alyssa since early December. Sad to say, she still doesn't sleep through the night but we've gotten the nighttime routine down which has helped get her to fall asleep faster and has almost eliminated our bedtime battles. She still wakes up about 2 times a night but overall, that is actually an improvement from the hourly wakings she had been doing previously.

The past few days have shown me that we have officially crossed over into the "terrible" twos with Alyssa. The meltdowns have become "atomic." At least she doesn't freak out for no reason, usually it's b/c I had to take something away from her...for her safety or b/c she just rather taunt me than listen to me. Ahh, how I look forward to being home with her full-time;)

This week is a mixed week for us. I'm glad I have another Dr. appointment tomorrow but on Friday Alyssa will be going in to have a hernia repair surgery. I'm not really nervous about the surgery but rather what to do afterward. Will she be in pain? Can I hold her right away? The surgery is done on an outpatient basis and will apparantly only take 1 hr from when they take her back until when she comes back out. The Dr. said it's actually common for young kids to get hernias (why I'm not sure) and he made it seem like it wasn't a big deal. I actually know of two other kids who have had to have the surgery. But it is something that will have to be fixed surgically at some point. So I opted to do it before the new baby was here and also when she was young enough to not remember it. So keep us in your thoughts on Friday and during the weekend.

This is the last month Alyssa will be in day care. Staring Feb. 1 I will become a stay at home mom. Never intended to be, but it is just working out that way. In preparation for the "big" transition (for me) I've joined a mom's group here in town and hope to get together with them frequently for outings and playdates.

Well, that's the happenings on this front. I hope the new year has been good to you so far!

I will keep you and Alyssa in my prayers on friday and the following day! Please keep us posted on her recovery!

Congrats on being a SHAM (if that's what you wanted). I'm so excited to stay at home and count my blessings that I am able to. Your mom's groups will keep you sane! I've already joined a few and am excited to participate with a child and not just myself:) Just think...it will give you more time to blog:)

Hey you! I love to blog - although I'm playing catch up on mine.

I'll keep you and Alyssa in my thoughts and wish her a speedy recovery!

I envy you taking the plunge to be a SAHM. I thinking having the mom's group will be important and beneficial for both of you (soon to be all three of you!)

Take care!
